Logan and Jena with their four kids on the Yellowstone Farms property in Paradise Valley, Montana

Logan, Jena, and the kids — About Yellowstone Farms, a Paradise Valley cabin hosted by fifth-generation Montanans

We're both fifth-generation Montanans. We bought this place six years ago, raised four kids on it, and slowly turned it into a stay we'd want to find ourselves.

Act I · Our Story

Logan and Jena, fifth-generation Montana

Both of us grew up in Montana — fifth generation on each side. We bought this place six years ago, raised four kids on it, and slowly turned it into a stay we'd want to find ourselves.

Our family has been on Montana ground for over a century. That history shapes how we host: short on theater, long on practical local knowledge, and honest about what makes Paradise Valley work as a basecamp.

Act II · The Land Before Us

The Knoll's Yellowstone Hackle place

The original Knoll's Hackle Farm and Fly Shop sign mounted on the barn-wood building, with the white painted door of the original shop
The original sign · Still on the building

Before us, this property was Knoll's Yellowstone Hackle at Absaroka Knoll Farm — Doc Knoll's small operation raising birds for the hackle that fly tyers used on Yellowstone-bound trips. The fly shop is gone now, but the building and the lineage are still here.

The Flyshop, our second stay, will reopen in that footprint when it's ready.

Act III · What It Is Now

One cottage, on our property, hosted by us

Our family's Paradise Valley property with one studio cottage at the front — kept quiet on purpose, kept clean by us, hosted by people who can actually answer a question about where to eat in Livingston or which Yellowstone gate to use on a Tuesday in June.

Most guests stay one to three nights on the way in or out of the park. Some stay a week and never leave the valley. Either way, the goal is the same: make the Montana part of your trip the part you remember.

No management company, no front desk, no key code from a stranger. We meet you when we can. When we can't, you'll know exactly where to find the door and the kettle.
